GIS

"Many of our currently unendorsed titles are mentioned in the OCR sample schemes of work and lesson plans/Teacher's Handbook for OCR GCSE Geography A and B 2009 specifications, and these could help support your teaching."

Geographical Information Systems

GIS artwork body
Funded by software producer ESRI and the Ordnance Survey, and made in conjunction with the Geographical Association, this DVD was given to every secondary school in the UK. This DVD aims to encourage the take up of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and showcases how GIS is being used to help everyone from traffic planners in London and Bangalore to emergency responders at Aldermaston and crime investigation teams in the West Midlands. The accompanying materials include interactive games in which students get the chance to play the role of the police, planning officers and other real life GIS users.

"Many thanks for the free GIS CD, it is really useful and excellently produced. I will be showing it to my A level students to help promote our new course, Level 3 Certificate in GIS, and hope to embed more GIS in our curriculum. The films are so well made I am definitely going to buy the Pumpkin video on the Olympics."
